A piece filmed in Sri Lanka, inspired by Luce Irigarays philosophies on the feminine within phallocentric language, drawing parallels between the female experience and the claiming of landscape. I also take inspiration from Buddhist ideas surrounding egolessness and temporality to reflect on my perceived identity and uprootedness.

A piece that aims to explore the boundaries between the internal and external, the human and the non-human, and the masculine and the feminine, emphasising the impact of environmental change on our consciousness and grief caused by climate change. It also discusses the concept of the feminine as fluid and void-like, whilst highlighting that these qualities attract male manipulation.

Through exposing the viewers to abject images, we prompt them to question what makes them uncomfortable and apply this curiosity to their mind’s wiring in other aspects of their lives. The abject is a universal experience, and the more we feel its impacts, the better we can understand its power to deconstruct our fear and rejection of ‘the other’.The scrutiny of our bodies is embedded in discourse, and its impacts run deep. During this collaboration, through a shared exposure to the abject and the embracing of its twisted beauty, we slowly heal parts of ourselves we were taught to turn away from.
